Electrical Estimator I

Job Description: The Electrical Estimator I is responsible for reviewing, estimating, preparing quotes, and developing and maintaining client relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain client relationships to improve bid-hit-win ratios.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam Revu,  Conest Intellibid and/or Accubid.
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications to determine project scope.
  • Prepare quantity takeoff and qualify vendor/sub packages to complete bids by the required deadlines.
  • Contact vendors and subcontractors to assure adequate pricing for the projects and adequate scope coverage per contract requirements.
  • Create written proposals detailing scope of work as well as any alternate or value engineering options.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits to inspect existing site conditions.
  • Actively build key vendor/subcontractor relationships to ensure best pricing.
  • Assist in preparing budget reports, schedules, and project manpower estimates.
  • Prepare change order proposals for awarded contracts as needed.
  • Assist in qualifying project leads from multiple sources, including web-based postings, publications, business contacts, etc. and route projects of opportunity to the Estimating Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES:

  • Commitment to learning and ability to retain information.
  • Ability to be both self-sufficient and team oriented to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong math and computer skills.
  • Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of electrical materials/methods.
  • Effective problem-solving ability.
  • Must exhibit attention to detail.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience estimating.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited degree program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field of study a plus, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Prior field experience in the electrical trade a preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • General Office
  • Job Site (Pre-Bid Walk-Thru and Active Construction Visits)
  • Involves sitting for extended periods of time while working at a computer.

JOB TYPE: Full-time/Monday-Friday

COMPENSATION: $90,000-$125,000K based on experience
