The Highmark Center for Health, Wellness & Athletics at Carnegie Mellon University Center focuses on supporting the mental, physical and emotional health of the CMU students. The 160,000 sq. ft. facility includes a faith room, a 16,000 sq. ft. main arena and a wellness garden. This LEED Gold project includes the use of occupancy and daylight harvesting sensors to control lighting, the use of salvaged wood floors from the historic Skibo Gym that were repurposed and used among several spaces within the new building, and the concierge desk that was created from a salvaged sycamore tree cut down during a prior project on campus.

Clista Electric was the primary electrical subcontractor on the new construction project.   We installed two new 5KV 600Amp circuits from Wean Hall through various manholes throughout the campus, successfully executing the largest campus wide electrical shutdown to date on Carnegie Mellon University campus.  Our dedicated team worked over the weekend and through the night on multiple shifts to complete the new electrical service in the timeframe allotted to us.  Whether it was offices, gymnasiums, golf simulators, weight rooms, or even dedicated prayer areas and wellness gardens, this building had unique lighting and power requirements that our experienced workers navigated with ease.
