project Summary:

The UPMC birthing center provides a safe and comfortable experience to their patients by allowing the women to remain in their room for delivery and recovery.  Nearly 11,000 babies are born annually at Magee.  Clista was on top of its game when inputting the lighting and electrical services ensuring the facility remained operational.

Greatest Challenges/REquirements:

  • The birthing center presented many challenges because of the sensitive occupied  environment and limited access during renovations.
  • Successfully completing this project required constant communications with the general contractor, staff and the birthing center unit director for scheduling work around patients and deliveries.
  • Infectious Control Risk Assessment Auditor level 4 (IRCA) was implemented to ensure patient safety.
  • This seven-phase project kept 2 operating rooms up and running the whole construction period which required some delicate scheduling of work.
